COMMUNITY OUTREACH SERVICES

Our outreach is to the community at large as well as to those people who are suffering hardship. Our ministry is three-fold to those in need:

Salvation: To bring people into a right relationship with God through the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Restoration: To give people the opportunity to regain what they have lost through unfortunate circumstances or bad decisions in life with the goal of achieving a productive lifestyle.

Mentoring: To aid people in the process of rediscovering values necessary to their well-being.

Turning Hunger into Hope
When homeless and needy men, women and children come through our doors, the first thing we do is invite them to join us for a nourishing meal.

Over the years we’ve learned the importance of a good meal. When all a man can think about is the hunger pain in his stomach … when all a mother can think about is that her children haven’t eaten a decent meal in two days … he or she can’t begin to put life in order.

The Community Feeding Program provides one hot meal every day (including holidays and weekends) to any hungry individual. For many, this is the only meal that is eaten that day. The overall goal of this program is to assist the homeless and poor with better nutrition and to use the meal as a bridge to establish a relationship. Hope does begin with a meal at the Open Door Rescue Mission.

This meal is open to any one in the community at 3442 McDougall, Detroit, Michigan and is provided daily 7:00 pm to 7:30 p.m. A worship service is held prior to the meal.
Our Daily Bread
For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

Matthew 25:35-36
